Planet Hope provides help for underpriveledged children and their families

About Planet Hope

Founded in 1993 by sisters Kelly & Sharon Stone, Planet Hope is a non-profit 501(C) 3 organization that provides help to the homeless, abused, and terminally ill children.

Planet Hope Programs include: Summer Camp, Food and Warmth Resources, Emergency Referral Programs and Hope for the Holidays.

"HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS" is one of the core programs of Planet Hope. Each year 12,000 gifts and toys are given to children living in homeless or abuse shelters and children living in hospitals with terminal diseases.

Over the last 20 years, Planet Hope has provided over 150,000 toys wrapped by volunteers and personalized with a name tag for each child. One of the biggest fears of children living in shelters is that Santa will not find them on Christmas. We have assured the program directors at Los Angeles shelters that each child will have at least two wrapped toys every year with their name on a tag from Santa.

Additionally, Planet Hope provides sleeping bags for the homeless living on the streets of Los Angeles. This year we distributed 1700 sleeping bags downtown on Christmas Eve.

The number of homeless people in Los Angeles County has jumped by 16% over the last two years, fueled by lingering economic devastation from the recession and rising rents and housing prices, according to a survey released June 2013.

"Hope is the state which promotes the desire of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one's life or in the world at large. Despair is often regarded as the opposite of hope." Currently, there are 58,000 people in DESPAIR in Los Angeles and all they have is HOPE!
